One Zombie Record Broken, One Record Denied

The attempt at the Shocktober Fest Scream Park at Tulleys Farm in England broke the UK record for most zombies in one place but, unfortunately, it fell short of breaking the world record.

"Showing tremendous dead-ication a total of 2113 zombies from around the UK massed at the Tulleys Farm Shocktober Fest Scream Park, near Crawley on Saturday 6th October. Despite a fantastic turnout from the living dead, Guinness World Records adjudicators announced that the world record had not been broken and that the current record of 4093 zombies set in New Jersey USA on 30 Oct 2010 still stands," reported the Crawley Observer.

Even without the world record, it was a great effort. Congratulations to all who participated.

NOTLD At The Drive... Ride-In Theater

Have some free time tonight in Corpus Christi? Then bike on over to the Drive-In Ride-In Theater for a showing of the original Night of the Living Dead to kick-off Halloween season.

"October! A time for crisp weather, fall colors....and zombies!

Join CC Ride-In Theater as we screen the very film that created the modern zombie: George A. Romero's original Night of the Living Dead.

We are excited to have Fright Night and the CC Zombie Walk's support this month, so we'll be accepting cash donations for CASA of the Coastal Bend.

Use your "braaains":
Parents, this movie received an "intense" rating as far as frightening level. Please use discretion and read parental guide for Night of the Living Dead (spoiler alert... zombies attack!)"

Showtime for NOTLD is 9:30 but there's more fun to be add beforehand so RSVP on Facebook and check out their timeline of events for tonight.

And the best of a ride-in movie theater... you'll have your bike with you in case you need to make a fast getaway of the zombie apocalypse hits.

Stop Zombie Mouth!

The contents of trick 'r treat bags are going to look a little different this Halloween if PopCap, the American Dental Association and your local dentist get their way. They are all teaming up this October to Stop Zombie Mouth by offering up free Plants vs. Zombies game downloads for Halloween as a sugar-free alternative to candy.

"This Halloween, the Putrid Posse is coming after the mouths of kids everywhere. We need your help to stop them — and Stop Zombie Mouth! Team up with PopCap — makers of Plants vs. Zombies — and the American Dental Association to help teach kids of all ages about good oral hygiene. You can help by giving FUN instead of candy on Halloween — for free!"

Limited edition Plants vs. Zombies collectible trading cards with free download codes are available at your local dentist's office (if they are participating in this program) and free game coupons are available online at the Stop Zombie Mouth website so you can give them out to trick 'r treaters too.

Kill zombies, get a job with Google

Finally, a chance to put all that zombie-killing know how to practical use as Google's annual programmer hackathon turned into an undead whack-a-thon...

"The problem: Zombies are popping out of a graveyard. The challenge: Smash as many as possible.

It might sound like any mindless carnival game, but the stakes on Friday were high. The best zombie-smasher could be in the running to win $10,000—and perhaps a job at Google Inc."
