Break / Nerd Machine's Zombie PSA

Missed this when it came out last year for Comic-Con:  Nerd Machine and Break enlisted Zach Levi (Chuck) to give zombies the PSA they deserve.

"It's crucial we recognize zombies as more than just bone-rotting, meat-sack stink-wagons and rather like temporary, kill-able people.  Remember, how would you feel if you had no feelings."

Zombies Take "A Morning Stroll" Down Oscar's Red Carpet

Think the undead are not getting any respect at the Academy Awards this year?  Think again. One nominee brings on a full zombie apocalypse in its quest for Oscar gold.

Meet "A Morning Stroll", one of tonight's nominees for Best Short Film (Animated).

"Loosely inspired by a real life event recountd in Paul Auster's brilliant book 'True Tales of American Life', Grant Orchard's 'A Morning Stroll' tells the story of one New Yorker's early morning encounter with a chicken, an event that plays out over 100 years."

Written and directed by Grant Orchard and produced by Sue Goffe for studio aka, "A Morning Stroll" is perhaps the first and only film that will ever combine "inspired by a real life event" with an "encounter with a chicken" and the zombie apocalypse.

It has already won for best animated short at both the 2012 BAFTA Film Awards and the 2012 Sundance Film festival so it stands a great chance of taking home a statue tonight.

While the trailer doesn't offer any glimpse or hint of the zombie goodness included in this great short, the film definitely delivers and is a hilarious must see for fans of the living dead.

"A Morning Stroll" is available on iTunes now as part of the Oscar Nominated Animated Short Films 2012 collection.

Humans Vs. Zombies - Tonight On Chiller

The zombie apocalypse hits tonight - Chiller presents Humans Vs. Zombies!

"Students on summer break are exposed to a deadly virus, a neuroinvasive organism that is spread rapidly through direct human contact. The Infected are enslaved by the invading swarm intelligence and driven by an insatiable appetite to consume human flesh. Returning home, the infection spreads quickly to their fellow classmates and other unsuspecting townspeople. One by one, more and more fall victim to the plague, triggering an epidemic that spawns a horde of ravenous zombies.

The zombie horde grows and spreads throughout the community. Amidst the chaos, a campus security guard, obsessed with conspiracy theories, leads a group of students to safety as they and a small band of uninfected townspeople set out to find other human survivors in an attempt to discover the source of the "zombie" virus and save the world.
"

Humans Vs. Zombies premieres tonight on Chiller at 10pm ET.

Due to be by the President’s side is his personal friend and Raccoon City survivor, Leon S. Zombie Poets Take A Road Less Traveled

Poetry is no longer just for waxing philosophical about singing caged birds or roads less traveled.  Now it's also a way to bring life to the inner mind of the undead, memorialize the masses who fell to ravenous hordes and to warn the living to take a road less traveled by flesh eating zombies (because that could make all the difference).  The zombie poetry bug has hit and the infection is spreading.

And just how much notice is zombie poetry getting?  Enough to get a write-up in The New York Times with a look at several recent anthologies including Aim For The Head, Vicious Verses and Reanimated Rhymes, and Zombie Haiku.

On Friday, the NYT wrote - "Rotting flesh, a disintegrating personality, an insatiable craving for brains — this is the zombie experience, although the more daring zombie poets allow for complex emotional states like alienation and loss."

The latest collection is Write Bloody Publishing's Aim For The Head: An Anthology of Zombie Poetry, released in October 2011.  From "Fifteen Ways To Stay Alive" to "Gifts For The Dead At Christmas" and "Citizenship Test For The UUSA (United Undead States of America)", the anthology features ghoulish poems from over fifty authors.

A cross-section of some of the best contemporary poets from the stage and the page rise up and shamble their way through an anthology of post-apocalyptic zombie poetry. Funny, creepy, shocking, and even poignant, this collection challenges award winning authors like Scott Woods, Laura Yes Yes, and Khary Jackson to shake the dust off of old conventions, pull the triggers on their imaginations, and…Aim For The Head.

Okay, I don't claim to be a poet and never will but, since it's for the zombie armageddon, I'll give it a shot -

New flesh is red, zombies are blue,

All the undead just want to eat you.
