Walking Dead: Production photos from Season 3

AMC has shared a few season three production photos from the set of The Walking Dead (potential spoiler with the last photo below so don't scroll down if you don't want to confirm what you already know is inevitable).

We've got Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), of course, looking like he's finally getting serious about disciplining Carl:

We've also got Michonne (Danai Gurira) in what we can only assume is her first reaction to meeting Laurie:

Here's The Governor (David Morrisey):

And back from the dead, it's the one and only Merle 'Lefty' Dixon (Michael Rooker):

Zombie Playground

San Francisco based design house Massive Black is looking for some Kickstarter support for Zombie Playground, a new RPG that they hope to launch that pits school kids versus the undead in a fight for their lives during the zombie apocalypse.

"In Zombie Playground you take on the role of a kid during a zombie apocalypse as seen through his or her imagination.  Your school is overrun by the undead, and it's up to you and your friends to do whatever it takes to survive!

Zombie Playground is an online, team based, action arena game with RPG elements.  Gameplay will be deep, challenging, and rewarding.  The game combines childhood nostalgia with horrific monsters, visceral combat, and a unique atmosphere straight out of a child’s nightmares.  We do want to make it very clear: this is not a game for kids!"

With 14 days to go, they are more than half way to their $100,000 goal. Check out their proposal and updates on Kickstarter to see if you want to contribute to Zombie Playground to help them get all the way to the finish line.

Bill Nye the Science Guy on Zombies

In an interview published today with Bill Nye the Science Guy, BetaBeat dared to ask the question on everyone's mind - "What do you make of this whole zombie apocalypse?"

“Apparently there are some drugs that can render you pretty useless,” Mr. Nye replied. “I joke all the time about how useless zombies are, though. Maybe they’re the antithesis of what’s cool now. What’s cool is to be quintuple-tasking at any time, moving fast, gettin’ ‘er done, and zombies–along with their slow movement–they seem indifferent to the world around them.”

“You don’t see a lot of zombies on Facebook,” he added.

ARTIFICIAL LIFE Launches Award Winning App Toy: Zombie Burbz

Hybrid Game Connecting Physical Toys, iPhones and iPad

HONG KONG, Jun 4, 2012 (GlobeNewswire via COMTEX) -- Artificial Life, Inc., an innovative investment company, announced today that its production studio ALife Studios, Inc. has developed and launched a smartphone app called "Zombie Burbz", which interacts with physical toy figures with WowWee Group Limited on iTunes.

Zombie Burbz is sold under the AppGear(TM) brand, which has won the Best of Toy Fair 2012 by Popular Science earlier this year.

Zombie Burbz consists of a collectible line of fun and infectious Zombie toy characters that players can move across their smartphone screen to interact and play the game. In the game, zombies are tired of being misunderstood by their neighbors. They're just the average, slowly decomposing suburbanites who want to keep up with the Joneses, not eat them. These undead trash-munchers need help to achieve the suburban dream, fight off angry mobs of the living and feed their craving for garbage.

Features:

--  4 unique story lines (Avenue, Diner, Services or High School) and 64
             missions in total
--  Use the deluxe Zombie toy figure across the screen to control the
             in-game zombie action
--  Control figures to unlock unique missions, abilities and enemies on
smartphone to progress through the game
--  Find and use traps and weapons to fight human hordes
--  Fend off attackers with screams, burps, snotballs and other wretched
             weapons
--  Trick enemies with stash-o'-cash, zombie-in-a-box, pinata and other
             treacherous traps
--  Collect garbage to boost health
--  Compatible with iOS devices, and will be compatible with a range of
selected Android smart devices later this quarter

The game is now live on the Apple App Store and is available for free download at: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/zombieburbz/id481595322?mt=8

"Collectable app toys are the latest trend in the world of toys and mobile gaming. We are excited to work with WowWee Group to bring these cool app toys to the market. This is a valuable opportunity for our ALife Studios as this partnership leads to a completely new and scalable business area which is expanding rapidly. We have developed two app toys so far namely "Zombie Burbz" and "Elite CommandAR", which made their debut at the CES in Las Vegas in January 2012. We will develop and release more innovative apps for toys soon. We hope this marks the beginning of a long term and fruitful relationship with WowWee Group Limited," said Eberhard Schoneburg, CEO of Artificial Life, Inc.

From their official press release:

Hyderabad, India - Undead Frontier - The game is fun, addictive and challenging because of it's unique strategy of having a social and a defense game interwined into one, where, how the players build their town affects how well it defends against zombies and the damaged incurred fighting zombies affects the social game economy.
