Looks like ground zero for the zombie apocalypse is... or was almost... Montana.
"Civil authorities in your area have reported that the bodies of the dead are rising from their graves and attacking the living" - that is the message that went out over KRTV's Emergency Alert System in Montana yesterday.

It’s the 8th century A.D., and the Byzantine Empire has got problems. A ruthless schemer has just overthrown the emperor and taken the crown for himself. The Saracen army is attacking Constantinople. Only one thing could make these problems look petty by comparison: an invasion of undead, flesh-eating zombies.
One young monk has witnessed the horror of the zombies and lived to tell the tale. When the new emperor hears of the danger, he hatches a wild plan. He puts the young monk in charge of creating an army of zombies to defeat the invaders. But it’s not that easy to control the living dead…"
Zombies of Byzantium is available in paperback and Kindle editions.
Hell of the Living Dead, from 1980, was directed by Bruno Mattei and stars Margit Evelyn Newton, Franco Garofalo and Selan Karay.
"An accident at a chemical plant unleashes a horrific virus, and an elite SWAT team is sent to New Guinea to investigate. But when they arrive on the hellish island, they discover a plague of flesh-eating zombies as well as a beautiful female reporter who practices nude anthropology. Can the commandos survive this cannibal rampage, uncover a shocking government secret, and still find time for the occasional cross-dressing before the ravenous hordes of the living dead infect the entire world?"
Nightmare City, also from 1980, was directed by Umberto Lenzi and stars Hugo Stiglitz, Laura Trotter, Maria Rosaria Omaggio and Francisco Rabal.
"When a radioactive spill causes mass contamination, thousands of infected citizens are transformed into bloodthirsty undead fiends. But these are not your standard stumbling gut-munchers; this is an all-out attack by fast-moving, flesh-ripping, ass-kicking maniacs that can only be stopped by a bullet to the brain. Get ready for an all-you-can-eat buffet of gunfire, gore and gratuitous aerobics where zombies run, chaos reigns and heads explode. This is Nightmare City!"
Midnight Movies Vol. 9: Zombie Double Feature is available on DVD now.

"A funny new twist on a classic love story, WARM BODIES is a poignant tale about the power of human connection. After a zombie epidemic, R (a highly unusual zombie) encounters Julie (a human survivor), and rescues her from a zombie attack. Julie sees that R is different from the other zombies, and as the two form a special relationship in their struggle for survival, R becomes increasingly more human -- setting off an exciting, romantic, and often comical chain of events that begins to transform the other zombies and maybe even the whole lifeless world."
Warm Bodies, based on the book of the same name by Isaac Marion, opens in theaters tomorrow.
New this week from Kino is a remastered edition of the classic 1932 film White Zombie, directed by Victor Halperin and starring Bela Lugosi, Madge Bellamy, Joseph Cawthorn and Robert Frazer.
"After becoming an overnight success with his starring role in Tod Browning's Dracula, Bela Lugosi struggled to find roles worthy of his acting talent, without parodying his depiction of Bram Stoker's notorious count. Independently produced by Edward Halperin, White Zombie was one of the rare films that provided Lugosi with just such an opportunity. In spite of its budgetary limitations, White Zombie manages to be a remarkably atmospheric treatment of the Haitian zombie myth, which would evolve into one of the most popular and enduring subgenres of the horror film.
This Kino Classics edition, produced by Holland Releasing, has been mastered in HD from a 35mm fine grain print and is presented in both a digitally restored and an unenhanced version (with the natural film grain intact)."
Screen Junkies sits down for a zombie-themed interview with Rob Corddry, co-star of Warm Bodies, who reveals his method acting approach to playing the living dead.
Warm Bodies opens in theaters on February 1, 2013.
AMC has a new trailer to promote the mid-season return of The Walking Dead.
"What can fans expect when Season 3 resumes? In this new 60-second trailer, the Governor promises his fight with Rick will "come down to the last man," Carl questions his father's leadership and Andrea hazards the Governor's wrath by visiting the prison. In short: A lot."
The Walking Dead returns on February 10th at 9pm ET on AMC.
