"Zombie Nightmare is a heavy metal trip of zombie horror vengeance!"
Well, it's certainly a trip of some kind. Finally making a legit appearance on DVD, Scorpion Releasing's disc of Zombie Nightmare brings us not only the feature film debut of Tia Carerre but also another B-movie appearance by Batman icon Adam West. Shot in Canada and directed by shlock sexploitation producer Jack Bravman, Zombie Nightmare stars Jon Mikl Thor, a former Mr. Canada as well as the front man for the heavy metal band Thor.
"Tony Washington (Thor) foils a robbery at a local grocery store only to be run over and killed by a group of savage suburban teens. But the horror has only just begun, for in the darkest recessed of Tony's backyard, a voodoo ceremony takes place which resurrects Tony into a superhuman zombie avenger. One by one, Tony's ruthless killers are graphically and brutally murdered as the undead Tony takes his gory revenge! The stage is set for a bone-chilling climax as the authorities (Adam West and Frank Dietz) finally come face to face with the dead rising from the grave."
We haven't seen it yet so we can't vouch for just how bad this film really is but the credits do not paint a pretty picture. For now, proceed at your own risk.
Coincidentally, the film was written by David Wellington, a Canadian writer-director who just happens to share the name with the American author of the zombie novels Monster Island, Monster Nation and Monster Planet.
Perhaps most notable for the production is its heavy metal soundtrack which features Motörhead, Girlschool, Virgin Steele, Thor and Pantera.
Zombie Nightmare's previous DVD appearance was just last year as part of a Mystery Science Theater 3000 DVD collection from Shout Factory.
IFC, The Independent Film Channel, presents the U.S. premiere of Dead Set, the British miniseries that matches up reality TV against the zombie apocalypse. To make matters worse, three of them have been granted the power of the ninja, and now must lead the fight against a power they cannot hope to vanquish. If they fail, the undead will overrun their little town, and maybe the world.
If anyone is going to survive a rollover car crash, it’s going to be zombies.
Imagine being a first responder to a car crash only to discover the survivors were none other than good, old fashioned living dead. And that is exactly what Portland police found at the scene of an accident on I-84.
The five occupants, dressed as zombies, emerged from the wreckage leaving first responders confused as to what constituted their actual injuries. The group was on its way to a costume party, replete with authentic torn clothing and festooned with fake blood, when the car rolled over, landing on its roof in the middle of the freeway.
Fortunately, all the injuries were non-life threatening. No word on how good the party was.
MTV News is reporting that Brad Pitt is now officially attached to star in the big screen adaptation of WORLD WAR Z as confirmed by author Max Brooks.
While chatting up "World War Z" author Max Brooks at the booth for comic publisher Avatar Press, the writer confirmed to MTV News that the adaption of his novel about the zombie apocalypse is not only moving forward, but Brad Pitt is now officially attached to star in the film. Additionally, Brooks revealed that Paramount has optioned the movie rights to two more of his projects: "The Zombie Survival Guide" and "The Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks" graphic novel.
Pitt was already assumed to be the almost certain lead based on the fact that the novel had been optioned by his own production company, Plan B Entertainment, back in 2007.
For now, we’re looking at a Summer 2010 release date. That day cannot come any too soon as far as we’re concerned but it’s better that Paramount not rush it and take the time to get it right.
"I'm glad they took their time, and are trying to make the best zombie movie they can," said Brooks. "I'm so glad they stayed with the project and so glad they found the right team."

The evening will also include BRAIN-CONSUMING onstage performances by LITTLE MISS RISK & BLOODY BETTY followed by a screening of the 1985 classic “THE RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD!!!”
The maximum length is five minutes (but we all know that any zombie worth their salt can do a hell of a lot of damage in less time than that).
As the frenzy of Comic Con settles down and the news of World War Z’s new star settles in, author Max Brooks sat down with TIME.com to talk about his obsession with zombies, his inspiration for his books and what to wear to the zombie apocalypse:
“Tight clothes and short hair. You don't want to get grabbed. Dreads are not a good idea. Footwear, no matter what, it's got to be broken in. You don't want to go out and get a new pair of combat boots the day before a zombie outbreak because the blisters you're going to get are just going to slow you down and hurt your feet, and then they're going to get you.”
Last week at Comic Con, Brooks revealed that Brad Pitt would be starring in the big screen adaptation of “World War Z” with Marc Foster (Quantum of Solace) directing.
