Okay zombies fans... and Star Trek fans... the Kindle version of Night of the Living Trekkies is on sale today for just $1.99.

"Journey to the final frontier of sci-fi zombie horror!

Jim Pike was the world’s biggest Star Trek fan—until two tours of duty in Afghanistan destroyed his faith in the human race. Now he sleepwalks through life as the assistant manager of a small hotel in downtown Houston.

But when hundreds of Trekkies arrive in his lobby for a science-fiction convention, Jim finds himself surrounded by costumed Klingons, Vulcans, and Ferengi—plus a strange virus that transforms its carriers into savage, flesh-eating zombies!

As bloody corpses stumble to life and the planet teeters on the brink of total apocalypse, Jim must deliver a ragtag crew of fanboys and fangirls to safety. Dressed in homemade uniforms and armed with prop phasers, their prime directive is to survive. But how long can they last in the ultimate no-win scenario?"

Night of the Living Trekkies was written Kevin David Anderson and Sam Stall, and published by Quirk Books.

New In Comics: Night of the Living Dead: Aftermath Vol. 2 (TP)

New this week from Avatar Press is the trade paperback compilation Night of the Living Dead: Aftermath Vol. 2.

"The hedonistic late 1970s is the perfect backdrop for the next evolution in the classic Night of the Living Dead series!  DAVID HINE continues a horrifyingly original take on the zombie menace as the virus spreads through Las Vegas leaving it a city of the dead.  As a group of unlikely survivors flee east, they encounter something more sinister even than the reanimated corpses that seem intent on finding and dining upon the ragtag refugees.  For locked away in a secure military facility they discover that true horror is bred by the living much more efficiently than the dead.   But hidden within the misery is the unthinkable…an anomaly that could lead to a zombie vaccine.  This collection includes issues #7 – 12 of the Night of the Living Dead: Aftermath series."

Night of the Living Dead: Aftermath Vol. 2 was written by David Hine and illustrated by Tomas Aira.

New On DVD: Zombie Dawn (Chronicles of the Walking Dead)

New this week from Eagle One Media is Zombie Dawn (Chronicles of the Walking Dead), directed by Cristian Toledo and Lucio A. Rios, and starring Pamela Rojas, Pablo Tournelle, Guillermo Alfaro, and Cristian Ramos.

"In 2006 a mysterious mining accident in a remote territory unleashes an unspeakable horror that creates a zombie horde with an appetite for human flesh. It decimates larges portions of the country. The only course of action is to rapidly enclose the infected areas and seal them off from the rest of the remaining, living population before the horror can spread. Now, 15 years later, the tattered remains of the government and the mining corporation responsible where the initial event took place commit themselves to finding out what may have happened at the mining complex. The solution is to send in a group of mercenaries lead by a cynical but no nonsense Colonel and scientists into the quarantined zone to find answers. But what they begin to find is more then they bargained for as much has transpired in the 15 years since the zone enclosure. And it soon becomes a fight for their very survival as they must not only battle the unknown but themselves as each of them has their own agenda and reasons for taking part in what may very well be a one way mission. Shot on location in Chile. (Spanish with English subtitles)

It should be noted that, despite the title, this film has no relation to Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead comic or AMC's television series of the same name.

Zombie Dawn (Chronicles of the Walking Dead) is available now on DVD and Amazon Instant Video.

Welcome Back, Bub

Did you catch Bub's cameo in The Walking Dead yesterday?

Last night's episode, "Us", gave a shout out to the Day of the Dead's favorite zombie with a lookalike of Bub during the train tunnel sequence.

What's the connection (besides both projects featuring zombies)?

In addition to serving as Tom Savini's assistant on Day of The Dead, The Walking Dead's Greg Nicotero also played 'Johnson' in the film.
