The Walking Dead: Season One is now officially available for pre-order on DVD ($27.99) and Blu-ray ($34.99) at Amazon.com with a March 8, 2011 release date.

Inside The Walking Dead's Zombie School

MTV News got a lesson in how to play a zombie from The Walking Dead's Key Special Makeup Effect Supervisor Greg Nicotero.

"One thing I learned from George Romero years ago was, if you ever demonstrate something to a group of people, all 50 people will do the exact same thing."

See The Walking Dead on Sunday nights at 10pm ET on AMC.

Would You Survive Against The Walking Dead?

"What kind of survivor would you be after the apocalypse?"

Have you tested your zombie apocalypse survival know-how yet?  AMC's got the test that will measure your aptitude for dealing with the Walking Dead.

When it comes quizzes about surviving a zombie attack, it's hard to imagine a right answer that doesn't include a gun/

Based on the answer that I got, ranking me as a natural leader, I am guessing that the accuracy of this test is somewhere in the 98-99% range.

New On DVD: Zombie Girl: The Movie (2010)

Photobucket"Emily is twelve. She's making a movie. It's feature-length. And it's a zombie movie."

With the help of her mother as agent, crew, and biggest fan, Emily launches an epic adventure in genre filmmaking, battling everything from budget shortfalls to self-doubt, all while coming of age as a teenager.

Emily has the vision and her mom has the driver’s license. Together, their journey is an enlightening look at a growing world of young moviemakers and the bloodiest mother/daughter story you’ve ever seen. - ZombieGirlTheMovie.com

Hagins began writing her feature in 2004 and had it completed by 2006, when it premiered at the Alamo Drafthouse.

Pathogen, in its entirety, is included as a bonus feature on the DVD.

Zombie Girl: The Movie is available now on DVD.

The Walking Dead Gets A Second Season

It comes as no surprise that, even after just two aired shows, AMC has renewed The Walking Dead for a second season, ordering 13 more episodes of the series.

The Walking Dead's premiere scored an all-time high ratings record for the network, outperforming every other series that it has debuted so far, by drawing in 5.3 million viewers.

Deadline.com reports that the decision comes along with the support of the worldwide network of Fox International Channels that aired the show in 120 countries throughout Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America within one week of its U.S. debut with similarly outstanding ratings results.

Great news to start the week!

Warning: Undead Ahead! The Zombie Chasers Saga Continues

PhotobucketThe children's book series, The Zombie Chasers, is set to continue with the release of its second book, Undead Ahead, on March 29, 2011.

Originally launched in June 2010 by Alloy Entertainment and Harper, The Zombie Chasers is written by John Kloepfer and illustrated by Steve Wolfhard.

The series follows the adventures of Zack, Johnston and Madison as they fight the good fight against friends and family that have succumbed to the zombie apocalypse.

TheZombieChasers.com intros the team:

PhotobucketZack Arbutus Clarke: His house is a wreck, his sister's a zombie, and he's stolen his mom's Volvo. He's totally going to be grounded if he survives this zombie outbreak! Zack isn't the biggest kid on the block, but when the stakes are raised and there are lives on the line . . . let's just say, he steps up big in the clutch!

PhotobucketJohnston Rice (a. k. a. Rice): Zack's BFF, Rice is the Zombie Chaser's official know-it-all undead expert and wannabe scientist. He's practically memorized The Zombie Survival Guide, and he knows what's going on . . . most of the time.

PhotobucketMadison Miller: Zack's now zombified sister Zoe's BFF, Madison is a hotsy-totsy vegan queen; she's a cold-blooded mean girl with a heart of gold and a belly full of VitalVeganPowerPunch—and she seriously can't believe that her best friend became a zombie and left her alone with these dweebs (a.k.a. Zack and Rice)!

The Zombie Chasers website has a lot of fun to offer kids who wish to explore the series with options to meet the characters, download free chapters, play games (anyone up for some Whac-A-Zombie?), train to be a Zombie Chaser and even win a chance to be zombified by illustrator Wolfhard. Visit TheZombieChasers.com to join the fight.

New Rules

PhotobucketIn case you missed it...

The October 29th episode of Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO, Maher picked a side in the fast vs. slow zombies debate by offering this observation about the current state of the undead:

If horror movie zombies really want to scare me, they have to walk faster. I don't even have to run from zombies. I can saunter, amble, stroll, promenade, stop for coffee at Peet's. Zombies, you may be disgusting, barely ambulatory member of the undead, but so is this guy [image of an overweight man on a scooter chair] ... and he can catch me.

New episodes of Real Time with Bill Maher air live on HBO on Friday nights at 10pm ET.

G4TV's Attack of the Show got an exclusive look at RE: Damnation with this trailer:

Madison Avenue Is Mad About Zombies

As of late, advertising agencies and their clients seem to be infected with the zombie virus with a bunch of fun living dead themed advertisements debuting this year.

Starburst, the candy that touts itself as the "juicy contradiction", got in the game a few months ago by taking on the oxymoron of the 'living dead':

It's probably no surprise that Microsoft's new Windows 7 update couldn't avoid catching a zombie virus infection this year either:

Toyota ended up in a head collision with controversy when this Corolla ad hit print just as the alleged death toll from gas pedal problems accelerated into a massive recall:

Snickers treated their Spanish-speaking customers to a messy look at an undead coffee break.

Ford got an early lead in the undead ad trend back in May of this year when they highlighted the benefits of keyless entry when fleeing a zombie horde:

And just this week, Sears wowed everyone with a very well conceived and quite thorough zombie-themed site re-design.

The products may differ but the message is clear - Shop, Spend, Consume - So we'll being seeing you at the mall!
